I have the ugreen 4800 (secondary NAS) and a synology 923+ (primary NAS). Got into NAS just this year and I like the ugreen more for most of my needs and wish I had set it up as my primary NAS. I use it mostly for media storage and backup. The hardware is leaps ahead of the toaster synology box, has better built quality and the mobile app (android) is so convenient. Synology has very limited usb ports, doesn't even have a USB C, no SD card slot, only has 1 GbE ports, has higher power consumption despite using dated hardware, etc.

One other feature I really like about the ugreen is that you don't need hard drives spinning up from hibernation to access UGOS since that is installed on it's own partition on the NAS (included). In Synology DSM, the hard drives have to be awake and spun up from hibernation every time you even log in to DSM since the OS is installed on the hard drives. This causes all hard drives to wake up from hibernation all the damn time (higher energy consumption and noise). This last point wouldn't be an issue for someone who needs the NAS on 24/7, but for someone like me who only uses it occasionally and almost never at night, the constant noise and power consumption from Synology is so annoying.

I really wanted to like Synology because of is mature software, but I would highly recommend ugreen to basic users at this point. UGOS is doing a great job catching up on all the software features.

I have this now. Great little NAS, but the default software is still working its way up. Keep hearing I should try TrueNAS. Maybe one day.

I got the DXP4800 Plus a week ago, it's really solid. Highly recommend getting one with more drive bays than 2 so you can move data around a bit easier. It would have been more difficult to move my 3 main drives from NTFS to Btfrs without having an extra bay for swapsies.

Ram is upgradable to 32gb. This is a nice alternative to a mini pc as a home server if you might have had a NAS too

Would love to get a new cheap NAS like this, but my ancient Qnap TS238pro is still getting software updates and patches and it's over 10 years old! I doubt anyone other than Qnap or Synology will do that, but I guess I need to replace it before it dies...
