I haven't tried that, but now I'm curious. I'm a creature of habit and find that these are pretty nice so I just stick to them. I also like the fine point sharpie's, but they dry out really fast.
The general consensus on Reddit at least seems to be a bit more love for Energels but I think they're both good, and the Sharpie S-Gels are just cheaper overall. Also my impression is there are more ultra fine point options for Energels. Someone even lamented that they are apparently discontinuing the metal barrel Sharpies though that's if you care about the various colors available I guess.
