It doesn't require a subscription since it has local storage

I started with the 2K version then got the 3K now have the 4K (this one). It's good but I recommend getting the home base as well since endurance microsd cards add up pretty quickly. I'm hoping performance will be the same (it gets delivered tomorrow). So far I've gone from Blink to Eufy to these. I still run four different brands lol but Tapo have been the most reliable. There is no replacement for continuous recording.

The most confusing part is the features and app features are different across all Tapo cameras. I don't think they have a video/doorbell/lock that I needed and got from Eufy. Another issue is I've had it track motion one way but then not track the subject going back the other way.

Tapo is by TP Link. I think TP Link is changing everything over to Tapo. You can also use TP Link products on Tapo app as well. I have serval 2k cameras and the smart light switches. They work well. The app is responsive. To compare, I also have several Lorex cameras and the app is slow and often gets disconnected.

Bought this a few days ago for this price, added a 256GB card for ~20. This is replacing the 2k version of this (which worked perfectly fine from -10F to 110F) the picture quality is definitely better than 2k (which in turn was much better than the 1080p eufy it replaced.)

My only complaint is this does not have any auditory warnings (baby crying, glass breaking, cat meowing, dog barking) unlike the older c120, so I'll keep the spare c120 out back for the foreseeable future as I did with the 2k version of this.
Upsides include this being able to run wired ethernet (like the 2k), and running on 5G (2k was 2.4G only). The AI zoom is interesting but eh. The facial recognition (on device only) is pretty cool. Definitely like this for this price, and very much hope they release the 4k stationary camera with colorpro night vision (better vision but requires a dash of visible light) and poe that they showed off at this year's CES but do note that tp-link loves to show off products at CES that never see the light of day, they seem to view it more as a concept launch than a product.
