I'll just throw this in there, these machines are fine for convenience, but I would recommend getting something like a Breville Bambino Plus and a separate grinder like the Baratza Encore as an entry point to making espresso - both can be found on sale here decently often.

I got a like new a couple of months ago and had a bunch of issues with it not pumping properly and not heating very much. Glad I tested and just returned. Was like new.

You'd need the Encore ESP to grind fine enough for espresso. Also, Breville purchased Baratza grinders for their semi models like this one, so actually these work quite well despite being built in. You save money going this route rather than buying separately. I'd only consider separate if you are really picky and want to upgrade the grinder down the road.

You wouldn't need the ESP, it just provides more fine adjustability in grind size while nice would not be necessary for someone just wanting to make espresso at home. The built-in grinders are far worse than a standard encore in spread of grind size and reliability is tied to the machine if it's not separate.

Most folks disagree that the regular Encore is good enough for espresso. I'm not that picky so it's probably good enough for me, but YMMV: https://www.reddit.com/r/JamesHof...o_grinder/

I'm not sure that the built-ins are worse. The burrs are the same and because the built-ins won't be used to make anything other than espresso, the spread isn't as big of a deal since it's already dialed in for the espresso range.
