Please hear me. Hub motors are evil. I had this brand and had to replace the nylon gears three times. It was awful. Save your money for mid drive. Please don't waste money on this.

I think that we as a country need to stop asking the government to take away even more of our freedoms just because some people are morons.

the jails are full enough as it is, without putting people in jail, and on probabation for riding a fast bike.

if they drive all out of control and take themselves out, then that's their prerogative

People are using this as a commuter bike - where most cities ban anything faster than 20mph.
I was doing 40 the other day (in my car) and a kid passed me on an e-bike doing a wheelie. Some of these things are FAST.

Ok, at this point, this is just silly. Just remove all the bike parts and call it an E-motorcycle... There's no shame in that...

... because are you REALLY going to pedal this home if you run out of battery on this "Ebike" with MASSIVE air quotes?

If you feather the throttle initially and don't abuse there should not be an issue, aside from bad luck.

So, when starting off, I'm gentle with the throttle to sync up the gears. Never had a problem.

Please do yourself a favor and don't buy this junk. Reputable bike shops will not go near it. Good luck getting any sort of service. I see nothing about UL listed.
This is not a bicycle but an e-moto which legally should be ridden on private property only.

This is a motorcycle, think a Yamaha rz-250 in electric form.It is not a bicycle. It is not an ebike. It is not a moped. 30mph is usually the line between "moped needs a license" and "motorcycle needs vin/insurance/motorcycle license." 45mph? No question. 6,000W (9hp)? No question. You will need license and registration to use it anywhere besides a motocross track, assuming it even offers a VIN. It is almost certainly illegal to use on any public path or bike trails not rated for motorcycles.
there it is

And must be less than 750w or 750w or less, depending on state, must max 20mph with throttle or, no throttle and cut off assist at 28mph. Many states Must also specifically not be modified so you can not change from say a class 3 to unrestricted and then back again.
explain how a patrol officer is going to check any of that.

Everyone's got an opinion... at this point sure there's laws but does anyone enforce them? Sure in NYC and LA and etc but mostly no. I've ridden my ebike and was only.once stopped but that was only.because the cop wanted to get one and had questions. I asked him about it and he said there are so many of them as long as you ride responsibly they ( the police) will never hassle you. Anecdotal but still.

All they really have to do is clock you on the speed. Most of the problem is kids riding these like bicycles but at motorcycle speeds. Regulations are getting tight in my area because crashes are ramping up fast, not unusual to see crashes reported in the news now. Yesterday a kid ran a red light and his bike ended up under a car, traffic video showed the crash as he was speeding on the wrong side of traffic and going right across the intersection without slowing or looking, miracle he was able to walk away from it. Last week or the week before another rider wasn't so lucky, stopped being a member of this world. Sometimes the person hurt or killed isn't the one riding the bike.

You can substitute "a bike" for "vape, knife, arrow, drugs" in that paragraph

Point is, there is just no fixing stupid. Sometimes wisdom with age helps a bit.
