Would I buy a used laptop or watch? Sure.
But this product has been wedged in other peoples' ears. And those mesh screens trap a lot ear wax that does not come out.

Make certain to check that the serial numbers match on case and buds. People love to discard their old units that have bad batteries for newer ones. Geek squad is really bad at checking.

I'm with you. I'd buy a lot of things used but for some reason headphones are not one of them.

How do you ensure authenticity? I'm assuming youre getting a return which most likely is going to be a fake or some other shenanigans

Does open box means the ear pieces has been worn before? Do they clean out the earwax before shelving them?

No they don't. They are superficially cleaned

Can confirm. I've bought at least 4 open box. At least 4 people in my family including me are now dead from ear wax.

I clean any open-box earbuds I buy by soaking them in hydrogen peroxide to remove earwax and kill germs, including the case. After this treatment, there's no wax or germs from previous owners. The rest is psychological—like drinking distilled water from urine. While it's still 100% water, the mental factor matters. It's up to you whether you want to invest time cleaning, and how much that psychological aspect affects you. For me, this perception often makes second-hand earbuds cheaper, and I've bought many open-box pairs for a third of the new price.

By soak do you mean like submerging the ear buds and charging case in hydrogen peroxide?

I want to know this as well. Submerging in a liquid can't be good for the electronics.
