But as you advance, you probably want something more powerful or elongated to give your game more of a edge. I think you will see more hyperions and perseus because they offer that specialty. The standard/wide shape drop out because you get better and dont need as large of a sweet spot.
how are these compared to the Joola hyperion?
I would consider myself a 3.0-3.5 player. I had this paddle. I would say it was a bit mid and ended up selling it. Its a really good paddle, with a huge sweet spot and great control if that is what you are looking for. I felt I could never miss or mis-hit with this paddle. If you are itching for more power and reach, then stay away from Scorpeus.

As someone outgrowing their paddle and getting consistent shots, you dont need a large sweet spot. You want more reach and power. Most companies make mostly elongated paddles in the advanced range. I would recommend an elongated paddle or a hybrid shape. The feel/price point/branding is subjective. You can play the performance/spec/weight/review game forever. Find something that fits your budget and you like the styling.
