Been looking at these after fighting with my string lights last year, where a strand would go out if the wire was nudged, likely due to a loose connection inside. Seems like a great deal for the RGB + White, the 250 are also on sale for 79.99!

Hmm, after reading comments online it seems like more is better. Might even get 2 400 sets for the usually 8 ft trees we get. Is that overkill lol?

Twinkly used to have a calculator tool to help figure out how many lights you need, but the link seems to no longer work. They do still have general recommendations based on tree height though:

I put a set of 400 on my 6' tree last year and it was just almost enough. I think 2 strands of 400 on an 8' tree would be beautiful!

Edited to add: I found pics of my tree from last year, they're in this post. I started at the bottom of the tree wrapping toward the top and I could have used another few feet near the top, they look a lil sparse there

I seem to always have to replace lights even with led after using them for one year. I would hate to buy these expensive lights and have to hassle the replacement bulbs of that is even possible.

we do 600 on a 9' tree so that should be good.

800 lights is good for 8ft (rule of thumb 100 per ft). But more is definitely better. My 9ft tree has 3150 lights

I happen to know the folks who run Twinkly, I honestly doubt they will support the app into the future. I have a lot of smart home tech, but won't have these.

I had three last year for a 10'; at the end of the season I picked up a fourth set. I think denser is better with these due to the effects.

You mean they support it now? Seriously, it's a pretty bad app.
