Features:
With Matter, users are no longer tied to specific platforms and works with all certified smart home platforms, such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings. You can control all your smart home devices from a single app, reducing the need for multiple apps for different devices.
All Matter-certified devices in your local area network (LAN) will work smoothly even when your home internet goes offline. Matter allows effective communication directly between devices, without the need for a specific 'forwarding' device. For example, a Matter smart switch or sensor can turn on/off a Matter bulb directly without being connected to a cloud service, or other specific action. Once configured, communication and control between Matter devices can be achieved directly on the local network.
By monitoring your energy consumption over time, you can gain valuable insights into your usage patterns and make informed decisions about your energy consumption. This can help you save money on your energy bills.
Avoid blocking additional outlets with its compact design, and plug in your WiFi smart plug with confidence thanks to its UL certified flame retardant design and 2-year limited warranty.

I assume not, but believe this would be a good place to seek an informed response.
If you are referring to Matter: Theoratically possible, but may be locked behind software restrictions. The old devices were not Matter certified, meaning they might not be ever upgraded.
If you are referring to Apple Home Kit: Physically impossible because Home Kit products require a physical security chip from Apple.
The Tp-Link or Tapo plugs are the same as Kasa it seems, even the same model #s.
Then how does this at $34 compare to these Tapo plugs , Matter + energy monitoring $27/4-pack (search amazon Tapo P110M) : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DKG52WQ4

I bought 2 x 4-pack* of the Tapo model last week and other than needing a firmware update to expose the energy usage to Home Assistant via Matter, I have zero complaints so far! I also noticed you either need to link these to a matter hub before adding to your Tapo account or there is a weird sequence i could not figure out if adding to Tapo then trying to link with a Matter hub. In either case, i am trying to gradually just buy stuff i can have locally linked to my HA controller with secondary access, like the Tapo app (which i also merged with my TP-LINK account so i could get rid of my TP-LINK app altogether).
Your question was in line with my thinking though - the Tapo plugs are about the exact same size but actually have an ergonomic design to pull from the wall so I am baffled why anyone would buy these and not the Tapo model for cheaper.
I'm looking to replace so old smart plugs from 2018, I use the SmartLife app to control so don't require the brand.
I need them to be dumb smart plugs that allow me to turn off/on from my phone, local or remote.
For example, I have my plex server connected to a smart plug so if I'm out of town and it freezes for whatever reason, I can turn it off and then back on, which usually fixes the issue.
I need one for my Nvidia shield as that freezes now and again as well, requiring me to go behind the tv to unplug it to power cycle it, a smart plug would save me the hassle of keeping off the couch when that happens, or if it freezes on a guest and I'm away.
I don't need/want any Alex or other voice control feature, the energy is nice but not necessary.
Also in the description for both this and the TP-Link someone else posted a link to, it says this,
"Auto-Off
Automatically turns off the devices after a set time, lowering your energy usage."
Can this setting be turned off? I don't want my devices to auto shutoff, I always want them on, except when I need to power cycle them remotely.
Any other smart plugs given my needs that would work? Thanks for any help
