worth it...great for small jobs... got mine for $20 on a sams deal... no brainer here

...also, make sure u use the included USB cable or similar... a USB c to USB c won't work... and I tried my regular Chromebook charger I used for my phones/tablets and other USB C devices, but it wouldn't work to charge this

I purchased this last year, and it's been my go-to tool for small jobs around the house. The flexible shaft has proven to be especially useful.

They don't properly implement usb-c so usb-c PD capable chargers and cables don't charge it. You can use other cables if you lose the one it comes with, but you need to do it in a way that drops usb-c PD capability which is what they do by including a usb-a to c cable.

I have what looks like the same screwdriver. I just use random USB c chargers and they work fine. Unless they changed something from a year or two ago.

Solid deal. I like this pretty well. Have't used it a ton but been happy with it when I have. This is $5 less than I paid from Amazon awhile ago and this looks like a bigger set of accessories too. FWIW I've used my buddy's electric Hoto screwdriver that is popular and I prefer this and it's half the cost.

I've had similar issues with other low price USB C items. I also experience the opposite in hotels (where the provided USB is too weak to charge laptops and nothing happens).

I found that for my items (including this screwdriver which I was hoping would be on sale for 15$) the power source (brick, wall wart, etc) needs to have the correct watts and amps that the low end device is designed to handle. Your chromebook and other high power items usually have very high ratings for the faster charging but don't have low power for everyday stuff.
So if you are interested to try, you might find that usb-c will work but you might need to plug it into a old wall wart/computer/Car USB. But no you aren't wrong, the dude is just explaining to you the technical reasoning why USBC-USBC's typically won't work, because that connection was designed for high power delivery.

I agree this is a good tool for a good price for small jobs. It's my go to drill for pulling apart small electronics which need repairs; kids toys, kitchen appliances, etc...

Bought this for around $20 at least a year ago. Solid for quick jobs or furniture building. Wouldn't use it for anything heavy duty. But if you're building furniture, this is a god send.

Also, Ltt screw driver bits do work with this but since they are low profile bits, hard to pull them out with fat fingers. Just an FYI.

I think this is leftover inventory from last year's Holiday items, or they havent been shipped to the stores yet. I'm pretty sure this is the same one I bought someone as a present last year. Very similar to the Amazon Basics/Denali one.

Edit: Yeah, after skimming through the reviews, this seems to be part of their holiday inventory. Previous SD front page posts were all thumbs up at $20 and $22.

Get a USB cable with LED power meter on the tip. A lot of hotels USB charge ports only put out 25W-45W. I almost always have to plug my laptop into a power outlet.

This one really screws!
You want to hold it tight when it is on high torque.
It comes with a locking mechanism which will retain the bit unless you pull the surrounding metal ring outwards so it is pretty nice.
However the standard bit adapter that allows you to use shorter bits(or other bits you own) does NOT lock the bits, it only locks the adapter itself.
I also find it missing magnetizer demagnetizer tool in the set, I wish I can keep one in the case it came with as well.
