This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.

Common Questions (6)

  • Some units accepted a T-Mobile SIM and worked immediately or for a few days, but many others showed a network-locked message or stopped working. The safest expectation is that it remains Metro-locked until the unlock process or the 1-year timer completes.

  • Sometimes, but only on certain software builds, mainly Android 14 units with older security patches. Many Android 15 or March 2025-update phones hit server errors or never show the permanent-unlock option, while older A14 builds were reported to unlock successfully.

  • Mint SIMs were reported not to work out of the box, and several T-Mobile SIMs also failed. A few specific SIMs from T-Mobile or other carriers did work for some users, but that behavior was inconsistent and not something to count on.

  • No port-in is required for this deal as posted, and several shoppers were able to order with a new number. The listing terms were later changed in the thread, so the requirement may vary by current checkout flow.

  • It is reported to auto-unlock about 365 days after activation. Do not erase the eSIM before the unlock completes; after it unlocks, you can confirm in settings and then remove the eSIM if you want.

  • No ongoing commitment beyond the first month was reported. The service is prepaid, so if you do not pay the next month the Metro line ends, and autopay is off by default unless you enable it.

This has worked for me as well in the past. Use your computer routed through your phone's hotspot. I think they block the wi-fi address they see from your home router after so many attempts.
I think its the IP they block. Learned something new today

I popped in my T-Mobile SIM and it doesn't work. It actually shows my number in the SIM but doesn't accept it.

So, you just plan letting it sit until next year?

I did but it is still un-clickable. I guess I have to wait 1 or 2 days.
What does it say on your UPS tracking? Mine still says "in transit to UPS".

I'm going to gift it to someone overseas. They only use WhatsApp over wifi there. They'll love it.

interesting .

so WA at home and when out and about via data or hotspots?

but wouldn't they need the line to accept calls to initially set up WA?

The deal is dead now. It was only available for a few hours today. It may be back in stock again.

reasonable deal.

currently im using a moto edge 2023 (boost deal which is no longer available)

so not sure this would be a upgrade from that device
(apart from the "foldable nature" of the razr)

im hoping/holding out for the 25fe comes to 99 with new number, for holidays:
currently 99 with port in or 199 w new number

i gave the port in method "the college try". but failed for one reason or another

if all else fails...then i will use the metro a36, waiting for unlock around june 2026

Personal experience, gave it to my brother-in-law and told him not to erase the eSim. He decided to erase it and now the phone will not unlock even after one year. You can also ask AI if you want.
