This Metro Razr 2024 deal is mainly about a cheap foldable with a one year Metro lock and eSIM activation. The strongest upside is the price, with multiple orders going through around $65 or even $35 for a second line, and the phone can be used on Wi Fi or as a secondary device while waiting. Community testing also points to a possible unlock path on some Android 14 units, especially older November 2024 builds. The main catches are frequent stock and checkout failures, plus many reports that newer Android 15 or March 2025 units stay locked or hit server errors. A good fit if you are comfortable with the wait and the activation hassle.

Common Questions (6)

  • Some units accepted a T-Mobile SIM and worked immediately or for a few days, but many others showed a network-locked message or stopped working. The safest expectation is that it remains Metro-locked until the unlock process or the 1-year timer completes.

  • Sometimes, but only on certain software builds, mainly Android 14 units with older security patches. Many Android 15 or March 2025-update phones hit server errors or never show the permanent-unlock option, while older A14 builds were reported to unlock successfully.

  • Mint SIMs were reported not to work out of the box, and several T-Mobile SIMs also failed. A few specific SIMs from T-Mobile or other carriers did work for some users, but that behavior was inconsistent and not something to count on.

  • No port-in is required for this deal as posted, and several shoppers were able to order with a new number. The listing terms were later changed in the thread, so the requirement may vary by current checkout flow.

  • It is reported to auto-unlock about 365 days after activation. Do not erase the eSIM before the unlock completes; after it unlocks, you can confirm in settings and then remove the eSIM if you want.

  • No ongoing commitment beyond the first month was reported. The service is prepaid, so if you do not pay the next month the Metro line ends, and autopay is off by default unless you enable it.

Ok, folks, my phone is working on T-Mobile. I just put my tmobile sim in the razr and turn the phone on. After that, I transfer everything from my old phone to the razr. I did not activate the phone with Metro, yet

Good data point, but your phone will never unlock if you don't activate it with MetroPCS. See this comment. If you never leave T-Mobile or leave the country, it's probably fine. What I would do is first is remove your T-Mobile sim (just in case), then activate it:
After you activate it, make a call or text to make sure that the MetroPCS number works. Then (don't delete the eSIM) and try popping in the T-Mobile SIM and using that.

I think activating it on Metro will also probably lock it to Metro. I did the same thing on a different phone a year ago. Tmo only worked for a few minutes until I activated Metro and rebooted.

If memory serves, Metro phones automatically activate 14 days after purchase. If I had a physical SIM I would try it but I don't. We're waiting on fyah_king to report back but I suspect it was a temporary loophole.

It's still going strong. I still haven't activate it on Metro, yet. I don't think I need to cause I'll be using it on T-Mobile anyway.

I'll probably activate it when I order another 1. I don't care if it's locked as long as it's working on T-Mobile.

I just got mine today and I have another one coming tomorrow. I had many of my apps transferred from my edge Plus 2022 to the razor but I did not activate it yet I did not try to put my T-Mobile SIM card in there yet either I will try tonight or tomorrow This is my first flip phone It is kind of neat I would have to get a case for it I'm not sure if I'm going to use it as my everyday driver but it is nice to have a bigger screen when open and smaller when it's shut You could actually put this in your shirt pocket. Not sure on the longevity of the hinge But when it's open you don't even notice it. this is a awesome deal for $65 incredible.

Unlocked bootloader is not the same as sim-unlocked phone, they are asking if bootloader is unlockable.
