Just a heads up. When entering personal info on order, do not capitalize your first or last name. I read about this from another thread and it seems to work at keeping their security system from raising false security flags. Also used chrome incognito and VPN. Order went thru without a hitch.

I want to remind everyone that there is no need to port in a number for this deal. Slickdeals staff replaced my original post with their own that states a port is required. SD staff is wrong on this.

I tried the network unlock a few times and nothing. Now the Perm Unlock button is gone. Will it come back? I hope it still unlocks a year later

The reason why the proxy unlock worked is you received a RAZR with Android 14. The proxy unlock app method works with any RAZR with Android 14 and security update prior to March 1st. Note the January 2025 manufacture date on the label. The majority of the inventory being sent by Metro is newer and shipped with Android 15. Once the phone has been on Android 15 at all manually downgrading to Android 14 does not work with the proxy unlock method either.

Ya mine phone is on A15 with Jan 1, 2025 update. Any ideas how to turn off auto system updates? So you guys are getting Razr A15 out of the box? Do you know if that moto tool works with Metro Moto Stylus 2025 or is that phone on A15 already?

Does not work with Stylus 2024 or 2025. Firmware version/date is only 1 requirement, some makes/models it never worked for. And of the phones it does work with they've all been around long enough that they would all have unlocked the normal way by now. Stylus 2021 & Stylus 2023 to name a few. RAZR and G Power 2024 with certain early firmware versions were the latest phones that it still worked with from what I know.

Pre-Steps: So you have a Razr Android 14 with Nov2024 Build U3UC534.63-88-12.1 or Jan 2025 security update. DO NOT CONNECT WIFI OR ACTIVATE Metro ESIM, doing so the phone will try to force OS and security updates which will then block this free unlock method.

Turn off System Updates/Smart updates, and Turn off "Automatic system updates" in Developer options aswell.
Also, just Turn on Airplane mode just incase.

Here's my instructions that I modified from a post that was posted before.

1. Download the Moto unlock tools from here

2. In Developer options settings enable ADP (How to enable Developer options? To do this go to About Phone->Device identifiers -> Tap Build number +7times it say you are developer

Then go back to Settings -> System - > Developer options -> Turn USB Debugging on (you can also toggle off auto system updates incase it trys to apply system updates and patch this free unlock method)


Now you should be able to connect to PC and you will get a prompt to allow USB debugging on phone.

3. Once the phone is connected to the computer via usb a prompt to Allow USB debugging? appears click allow.
4. Launch the PC tool called Moto.exe tool from XDA, Turn on Airplane mode
5. Click Unlock (which opens up screenshare on you computer (u can make it bigger by putting 980 on the max size)
6. Internet sharing - Click Ok on the Connection Request for Gnirehtet
If you don't see the Gnirehtet VPN connection, click uninstall Gnirehtet and exit the Gnirehtet console if it was running. Then Click Internet Sharing again and look at phone for the prompt.

7. Click Open Metro unlock app - Error might popup on phone, tap Continue and you should see Status: Locked T-mobile with Try Permanent Unlock option.
8. Tap "Try Permanent Unlock" on your phone screen. [Try with Phone WiFi On for this step and try with it off]. Once you see it permanent unlock. If done correctly it will say "Your device is now fully unlocked. A restart is required to apply these settings. Tap Restart now and double check Unlock Status under -> About Phone -> Device Details -> Network Lock "Unlocked".

If you don't see Try Permanent Unlock option, but instead see a Status: Locked Metro Sim mentioning 180 days, go back to PC tool, then click "Reset Metro App" from the XDA tool metro.exe and Click Open Metro Unlock app again (may need to do this several times for permanent unlock to show).


You can turn on WiFi and esim Data and you are free to update your phone to Android 15 once unlocked.

Notes: Idk why the original instructions said have wifi turned off. Because it worked when I had it on. Also, I did have my tmobile sim in the phone and noticed the unlock app had errors and switch Metro unlock 180days, but the permanant unlock was gone. I did click reset metro app and reopen Metro Unlock app to see the permanent unlock again.

Edit: Doesn't work with Android 15 March 2025 Security Update on my 2nd phone that had box date May2025.

Thanks for the steps, i had tried earlier today with A15 and a lot of different options of Wifi off and on. None worked.

Apparently this tool was released in Feb this year and the march update has the issue fixed
