The new Hue Essential line of bulbs are cheaper and do the same thing as this older ones. Probably why these old ones are going on sale.

Yeah that's not true. The essentials aren't nearly as color accurate as the regular ones for warmer whites colors and they don't dim as deep. Okay for someone someone starting out without existing bulbs or a room thats lower priority, but not for someone that needs another matching bulb in an existing Hue setup.
