4 mil is fine for cooking, basic sanitary needs. Not something you'd use working on a car or whatever but lots of applications and fairly cheap. Hopefully powdered or coated though. Last box I got on Amazon were basically fused into one big lump and I tore 10-12 of them just peeling them apart.
