It wasn't that bad. I've seen a lot of worse movies in the theater lately. So I would give it a 6 or a B-. The visuals and audio were very impressive in IMAX 3D and it had a lot of action even if the story itself wasn't that good and Jared isn't the best choice. It's one of those movies people should see in IMAX 3D just for the experience.

In my opinion, Tron Ares is no worse than your average Marvel movie these days and at least Tron Ares knows "its lane" and doesn't try to be funny and fail like Marvel movies. I enjoyed it more than the Captain America Harrison Ford hulk one or the last 2 Venoms.

It's definitely a flop. There wasn't a market for this. It's crazy that they even made this movie. Tron: Legacy flopped, too. There's just a small, but very vocal fanbase, that made it seem like people really wanted another Tron. It also didn't help that they cast Jared Leto.

Saw it over the weekend and liked it. Not a masterpiece but an enjoyable experience.

Does it acknowledge or explain away Legacy at all?
Acknowledges Legacy and takes plot points from it to setup an Ares sequel if it ever happens.

I saw this in a ScreenX theater and I thought it was a really cool experience. Best ScreenX experience of any movies I've seen. It felt like it was made for screenX

Saw it over the weekend, it was fine. Very silly, but what did anybody expect from a Tron movie? I'd deduct at least 2 points for the fact that Tron wasn't actually in it though...

It has some similar plot points, but the only explicit acknowledgement is a post-credits scene.

57%/87% on RT. So, a pretty mediocre action movie. You'll probably enjoy it.

I saw it at an early release screening. Its the most 6/10 movie you will ever see in your life. Its not bad by any means just a lame Rise Of The Skywalker macguffin plot, middling writing, and proof bringing tron stuff to the real world is boring.<br />
Fair number of cool looking scenes and a great soundtrack.
Perfect review i can relate to.
I am a TRON fan, saw it when i was a sophomore in HS. That said, I was happy to have my son with me when Legacy came out, but was not happy with the storyline. Visuals were fantastic of course. My son was into Tron Uprising on Dizney channel. Fast forward to now: was debating to see the movie, but my wife is into pretty images.woot Might skip a few lunches to see the IMAX version.

Thanks for all of your inputs SDers. Keep em coming.

Didn't love the original Tron (pacing was slow), enjoyed Legacy. I plan to give this one a watch at some point. Nearest iMAX is over an hour away, so probably won't see it in iMAX but I'll catch it on the discount day at my local Cinemark.

This movie looks and sounds PHENOMENAL in IMAX 3D and has many expanded ratio scenes (where the image takes up the whole screen) The visuals and 3D are incredible and the soundtrack rocks. The movie itself isn't quite as good as Legacy but it's just fine. This movie in IMAX 3D is vastly superior to any other way of seeing it.

First movie I walked out of in years. It's so bad!
So I'm guessing you didn't see this movie in IMAX, it's a movie theatre movie, the movies main premise (visuals), and those tickets ain't cheap.

To all, the Rotten Tomatoes scores both in critics and audience, are higher than Legacy. Not sure what everyone was expecting? Even Legacy was exposition in the first 30m and then it was all visuals and action for the rest. People on YT, like Critical Drinker, and ragging on this movie so bad, and yet...RT scores are higher than Legacy. That's why go watch it for yourself without a pre disclosed opinion from others.

I saw it Thursday night.

It was good. I saw the first one in theaters during middle school, so I think I am the target audience. Lots of memories.

If you are a Fandango fan club member, beware it charged me the convenience fee (supposed to be waved with club membership). Checkout showed it being removed and it charged me anyway.

I watched all 3 movies in a row, (1 movie per night) to make sure I was caught up on the story line.
Out of the 3 movies, I found Ares to be the better of them and it helped watching the other 2 for story reference points.
The main character "Eve" was a bit bland and stiff for my tastes but overall the movie flowed, but felt cheesy at times. The whole Leto hate is a bit out of proportion, and he was OK (not great) in the movie.
We did see it in IMAX 3D and that's where the movie really shined. Great use of the full screen, sound and 3D tech.
I feel like a lot of the hate for the movie comes from people who haven't even seen it.
