I highly highly recommend that you immediately open it up when you receive it and inspect it, and not just put it on a shelf for next summer. You have 30 days to discover and report damage to Amazon.

My point is, I highly recommend buying the extended warranties for these things. IMO, one of the few times it's worth it.

I'm 2 for 2 on buying these from Amazon and having them die in under 2 years. Fortunately, both times I bought the extended warranty and got a full refund (sans the warranty itself). I finally gave up on these units from Amazon and bought one at Best Buy, again with the extended warranty. Just finishing up the second season with that one and it seems to be alright so far.
