I have this thermometer and it works great. The only downside is that it cannot be shared with other family members within the Govee app (they do have a sharing feature but apparently this decide is not supported)

Is there something like this that also checks sanitizer levels?

We have this and it's great when it works. Unfortunately, that's not often. "Device Offline" is the usual status. Un/re-plug the gateway usually gets the sensors to reconnect. Sometimes have to battery pull the sensors. Never stay online for long.
Tried the single and dual sensor setups. Tried different locations for the gateway (currently is line-of-sight and only 25ish feet away. Govee support is great as far as responding and replacing them. We're on our 3rd device and it continues to have connectivity issues. Wish it worked because it's the perfect device for monitoring a pool temp. I'd pay 5x this for a working device but haven't found anything similar.

there are several units that have that capability however beyond temp and ph, they require cartridges that only have so many uses. Leslie's offers one (Accublue) and I believe the test they offer in store for free uses the same cartridges. Waterguru is the one that first got me looking into them, it's about $350 plus cartridges which are ROUGHLY $0.40/test (they say "per day" where you only test once per day). Sutro is another that also uses cartridges.

I.... operate.... a semi commercial 185k gallon pool seasonally and we rely on lifeguards (HS/college kids) to do routine tests of FC and ph and find tremendous variability so we're not sure if the kids aren't doing it right or if our auto dosing equipment isn't tuned right. I HATE the Taylor reagent kits with drops and comparing colors, as the color scales are really fine and there's not a huge difference between the top and bottom of the scale so it's HIGHLY dependent on the user, but those kits seem to be the gold standard for chem measurement. So, I've looked into automated things like this but the bottom line is reviews on accuracy of measurements are hit and miss, and we measure every hour while we're open so we'd run through 7 or 8 tests per day, so a cartridge which "lasts" 30 days would only last 3-5 for us, meaning it would get very expensive quickly.

My reason for commenting on this thread is that I've also been looking into remote temperature measurement. Our pool is heated and we always have people bitching that it's cold. My thought is to have a display that shows the current pool temp to shut them all up. I haven't found a decent solution for this though. Easy solutions like this are tied to apps and fixed probe shapes.

Man this would be even better if it didn't have to float around the pool. Maybe a device that ties into your pool equipment or can hang out in the skimmer basket. My heater has a temp sensor but no way to communicate it wirelessly. I had a chlorinator installed on my equipment to avoid having a chlorinator float around my pool.

Yeah that's the other problem I have. It's a private club but there are a ton of kids and I really can't have things dangling in the water. My initial idea was to get some TC probes and install them in the supply and return water pipes (4" pipes, should be easy to mount) but the problem then becomes display - a commercial solution like govee is nice because that's all done but it's also canned with few options.

The Waterguru also measures water temp and it replaces a typical skimmer cover, so there's that, but it's also $350 and if you want it to test chems it's about $0.40/day

Thanks for mentioning the Leslie's Accublue tests. I didn't know they do that. While I wish it would float in the water and test itself, like some of the other products, this one is probably the most accurate. $50 a month for 5 tests and a $50 monthly credit. Not too bad all things considered.

I don't see it shown here but the sensor has a "ring" to do just that. Our skimmer lid has 2 large slots/holes to lift it. I have a loop of string through the sensor and skimmer slots. Keeps the sensor from floating back out into the pool which happened until I secured it.

*Connectivity wise... I just checked history. One sensor has been communicating for the past month. The other has been offline since Oct 9. Force closing the app got it to start showing temp again. I have several other Govee temp/humidity sensors and find their app is pretty buggy for temps. Works great for leak detectors which saved us a lot of mess several times.

Yeah I think it's the same thing they run the water in at the store. A 5 pack of test discs is $9. The TC says "5 Water Testing Disks - single use. (Purchase necessary after membership)" included with the device, so you're buying them thereafter but the $50 will buy around 25 discs or so, so your cost if you test ~ once a day is about $50/mo.

the tough spot for me is that we test very often, so it becomes cost prohibitive to use a kit like this.

Surprised this is rated up to 158F. Willing to give it a shot. Our old analog one just died and I need a new one anyway. Fingers crossed the AZ sun doesn't eat it ๐Ÿ˜‚

EcoWitt sells a waterproof temperature probe. Example: WN34L. It can connect to a gateway.
