Thanks, just ordered eneloops and was looking for a charger. This is about the same price as a charger without batteries. Will try out the batteries and compare.

All NiMH rechargeable batteries are 1.2V.

There are such thing as Ni-Zn 1.6V batteries but I DO NOT recommend them for regular electronics.

High drain electronics, I think. I had very disappointing performance with a laser pointer when using 1.2V NiMH, so I needed to spring for rechargeable Li-ion AAA, which are 1.5V.
