12GB isn't enough for proper 1440p gaming, so if you're rocking a 1080p monitor and will for at least the next 2-3 years, then get this one, else pay a little more and get the ti version that has 16GB and future-proof yourself for a half decade.

It's more than enough for 1440p gaming for the next few years to come. While there maybe an exception of a game where 12gb maybe not enough but that won't be the case for over 99% of todays games.

This is exactly what companies want people to believe — the unnecessary chase for the latest specs. 12GB is plenty. I play FPS games on a 2070 Super paired with a Ryzen 5 3600 at 1440p, and it still runs flawlessly. That's a five-year-old GPU.
And before anyone says it's only holding up because I spent the extra money for a good card at the time, that's not the point — I'm talking about its current performance and specs compared to the newer 16GB cards being discussed.

Playing Horizon Forbidden West at 1440P on a RTX 2070 Super. Near max settings except for the couple that require more VRAM. Pretty certain you're just plain wrong.

Disagree. Im currently running a Ryzen 5 3700x with a 3070. Battlefield 6 only started running well after I went through a half dozen YouTube guides to turn every setting to low. So if you're fine playing on the extreme low settings then yes. If you want to play on any other settings no.

I have a 5070 (base) and I game on 1440p just fine. Max settings I get well over 100FPS on most modern games with no issues.
