The 2,000-point "bonus" is practically worthless — it's nowhere near enough to book your average Marriott room. Even worse, switching to the "pay with points" option often increases the room rate.
And if you don't have enough points? You can't just pay the difference. Instead, Marriott forces you to buy the remaining points — at inflated prices. Last time I tried, I had 50% of the points needed for a room, but it would've cost me $350 to buy the rest. Meanwhile, the same room was available for $219 if I just paid with a credit card.
It's a frustrating, overpriced system that feels more like a scam than a reward.

You can't really price how much $$ a point is, because night pricing varies so wildly amongst categories and properties. That said a rule of thumb is $0.008/pt. So if you wanted to boil it down to value, 2k points is about $16. Considering that the bonus is regardless of what you spend on a room, that $16 could be ~ 10%+ of what you'd be spending for a single night.
And yes, you can pay in cash plus points [marriott.com] but there is a limit (you can only make up so many points) and it varies, so you have to look at specific reservations.

was on my acct, thx op, got a few trips I may split hotels on to max it out
I see this: Stays from October 28, 2025 - January 10, 2026
I have a work trip upcoming that is check in Sat, Oct 26th, checkout Fri, Oct 31st.
Do I need to book a stay for 26th - 28th, then 28th - 31st, or will the single reservation be good? I'd prefer not to check-in and out and back in, but if that's required, so be it.
Honestly, I REALLY hoped they would offer double nights before the end of the year... I'm about 15 away from Titanium and I can't imagine they would have an overlapping promotion for double nights with this one going on before the end of the year.
