I bought this for the same purpose but ended up returning it as the video seemed choppy all the time. Tried adjusting every setting I could find but ultimately couldn't get to run smoothly and went back to my other one which surprisingly was just an older version of this

Are you asking what people use a computer for?

I have been waiting for something like this to Run Pfsense and Home assistant. Price and specs are great.. Too bad it has only one NIC. Does someone has an affordable alternative with 2/4 Ethernet ports (preferred 2.5GB)

You might be better off looking around eBay for a (an?) uCPE system. Example: I have four Dell VEPs, Intel Atom Denverton CPUs, 2 SFP+and 6 1GbE Base-T. They're great for network functions, good or okay for other. So, if you need something running opnsense or pfsense, these are awesome (Intel CPU made for network operations, Intel NICs with great driver support on Linux and FreeBSD). I'm running OpnSense and Home Assistant as a VMs, lots of other things as containers, on proxmox. Downside for my particular devices: the m.2 drives are SATA only, so...

If you phrased this as a question instead of an assumption, you would sound logical instead of racist. It's actually a valid concern. Some of these cheap boxes have been found to have BIOS modifications that indeed allow outside access. But assuming it's the case is not cool. I'm hoping someone here has some insight.
Literally nothing racist about the other poster's comment.

Wow. Looks good. Thanks for that.
I like Zorin, but you may also want to check out "Winux" ( https://winuxos.org )....I installed it on my wife's old Evolve III Maestro netbook when she started running out of storage & move to a Dell. It's almost indistinguishable from Win 11/Win 10(you choose the look)...I think it used to be called "WinFX"

Yeah just like I thought, repeating old news from almost 2yrs ago, it was that first batch and NOT bios related
You're right...I misremembered the exact details of the news from two years ago. However, I'm not sure why you're so quick to dismiss the possibility when it absolutely did happen on boxes that are essentially the exact same as this one. The story i linked isn't the only one that's like this. Obviously, you can install a fresh OS or monitor your network traffic if you're really worried. But it's not like it's wild conspiracy for a cheap box from an off brand company to be malware-laden. Certainly not just Internet rumor as you claim

Thank you, I changed my search and am leaning towards: https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-F...B0FCY3CFW7
Giving 4x 2.5gb on a good intel controller. No Storage or memory, but I have that laying around.

Looks well build with mem and storage.
So which is better

AI said: You should not trust AceMagic mini PCs due to a history of factory-installed malware on some of their devices, poor customer support, and reported quality control issues. While some newer models may offer decent performance for the price, the brand's past actions and negative customer experiences make it a risky purchase.

Are these playable roblox / minecraft etc kid's "gaming computer?" Or would the performance be intolerable?

just grab an HP/dell optiplex SFF for cheap and add the ethernet card. Itll be much cheaper.

Or you can grab a dell wyse 5070 and replace the serial port with an ethernet for the 2nd NIC. I did that.

most of the comments on this group are people wanting to tun different OSes on these devices, good product for the price.

Somewhat related to deal, but I have an old desktop running an i5-4460 w/ 16 GB of DDR3. Is there an inexpensive mini PC that has better performance I could get nowadays to use as just a typical family PC? I wouldn't want worse performance after 10+ years, but it would be nice to have something with a smaller footprint.
