I think the argument would be that Socket AM5 CPU/Mobo/RAM have gotten cheap enough that it is hard to recommend a new AM4 build unless you are on a really, really strict budget. A Ryzen 7600x + basic mobo + 16 GB RAM would be like $300 right now; this combo + basic AM4 mobo would be like $230; that extra $70 gets quite a bit more performance + a better upgrade path.

Do you mean for a main rig? Because this is great even for a budget gaming rig, or a cheap intro to a server build.

Do AM5 not have Ryzen 5 processors? If not, then I understand... either way, thanks for the explanation

I think they meant Ryzen 5000 series processors (last series available on the older Socket AM4), not just Ryzen 5, which yes, processors using that branding are available on Socket AM5.

The only problem there is the AM5 still has a lot of leg room left 2+ years of upgrades where the AM4 is dead in the water . 3 years from now you can still slot in a new cpu in the AM5
