I doubt the inverter is UL listed but this is a screaming deal.

Anything bought on ebay can usually be thought of as not having a warranty, but the seller seems to be the actual company, however, there are some warranty loopholes with auctions where the seller isn't responsible for manufacturer warranties, so it depends on the company if they're going to risk a negative review to fleece you.

I imagine you would run the inverter between your main panel and a sub panel with less than 10kw expected demand. Does anyone know if the inverter isolates the battery power from the AC input, or would it require a transfer switch?

It's a hybrid inverter so no transfer switch required.

This mentions "off-grid" numerous times. Can this be installed as a grid-tie solution as well?

I do not think is a good deal. You can get a better deal from a local supplier that also will deliver to your door, and also have local support. You will always need some extra parts. For example greentechrenewables.com (not sure how good prices they have today, so shop around)
  • Price: Higher quality all black estetics Q CELLS 410W Solar Panel 132 Cell Q.PEAK DUO BLK ML-G10+ are $165, so $2640. A UL listed Growatt hybrid 7.6kW inverter is $1119 and EcoFlow 7.2kWh battery from costco has been $3400 here on SD. Total $7100
  • The topology is not good for optimization. The strings of panels are parallelled up, so the inverter can not optimize both branches.

I built a much smaller off grid system using Eco-worthy batteries and an AIO inverter (1400 watts) 2 1/2 years ago. A 5 KVA system. It has served me well in hot Tucson. I signed for TEP peak-demand, Time of demand rate where they charge you an arm and leg for power usage during 3 PM - 7 PM, M-F (something like $13 per KWHr for a maximum of 20 units?) but very small for other times. I used this small system to power a window AC during those four hours and recouped the price in 2 years.
It looks like solar system plus storage prizes are falling dramatically. I wish I bought the house to go for something like this big and stop using the utility companies (you can't do that if you live in a city).

You, uh, understand that 7.6kW inverter is not equivalent to a 10kW inverter, and 7.2kWh of batteries is quite a bit less than 30kWh, right?

Not as-is. You'd need additional components, especially at the breaker box in your home. It becomes a lot more expensive and the sellers don't want the liability or return risk. Also these systems are often too small to really cover the needs there, so if they mention on-grid, the return rate increases ten fold when electricians and solar people are inevitably called in, chuckle, and convince the buyer to open an eBay case.
