The price is right but the reviews look bad. Amazon has numerous listings for $70 40" standing desks. I still want one though. Thoughts?

As long as you're not overloading it, it ought to work fine for most applications. I prefer dual motor (more expensive), but I tend to do things like mount heavy monitors, and/or place heavy dynamic loads like musical keyboards on my desks, which benefit a lot from the increased stability offered by more robust design. What are you planning to use the desk for?

I want to mount dual side-by-side 24" monitors using a single arm. That is the only load the desk needs to hold.

Try to look for a desk which has a whole piece tabletop instead of two panels https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F6SXK...ress0&th=1 Might be a few extra bucks but worth it.

This desk will be fine for such demands. Whole piece desk is definitely more desirable if you don't have a cap on your budget.

Is the appeal of dual motor increased power (vs single)?

Also, how does a dual motor provide increased stability - what makes it a more robust design?

If anything, dual motors could go out of sync, alignment and when they do, they will fight and destroy each other

Thanks for your help. I upped my budget and found a glass-top desk for $140 with a drawer, the cheapest on amazon. I don't trust the particle board in these cheaper desks to not chip, distort, or look like shi quickly.

Glass-top with writable surface.. interesting! But does it leave smudges if writing gets dried and not cleaned up for some time?

Dual motor have a number of benefits, including generally faster adjustment speeds, increased efficiency and stability associated with the symmetrical load-balancing of two independent motors working in concert. Two motors simply means each point of effort is handled by its own mechanical implement, the logic remains centralized and concerns of "getting out of sync" are unwarranted. Dual motors will be able to dynamically handle situations like having a big weight discrepancy across the surface area of the desk, resulting in improved longevity for the motors.

In terms of robustness, the presence of dual motors itself doesn't make the desk's frame and design more robust. But a dual motor design goes hand and hand with a more robust frame. A dual motor design, and a robust design, are both features offered for, and expected for, the higher end adjustable desk market. You won't see a dual motor design paired with a flimsy frame, nor would you see a more substantial frame paired with single motor, the same as you won't see an $1000 smartphone produced with a 720p camera, or a Lamborghini sold with Goodyear tires. Theres no market demand for a "premium" design that cheaps out on one or two essential design areas basically.

I'm not saying everyone needs dual motor either. This desk seems like a good cheap basic option that would be appropriate for many use cases.

Looks nice, good luck getting it all setup. I'm a big fan of standing desks ever since I got my first one

This is only 40" wide. I have a different adjustable that is full size with two 24" monitors. They will overhang if the weight is supported. Don't skimp out. I also have room for the mouse on the side and space to actually work with a notebook. Get this and your large Yeti will block part of a monitor.

I just put my 40" together today with NO ISSUES. Seems well built. It GOES UP and it GOES DOWN.

I use a triple motor L-shaped desk & it throws a desync error every time I use it (prob distribution of weight). Really annoying to have to reset it every time, but hopefully that changes when I redo my desk layout. I could see that happening for dual motors.
