Not a great deal for a quartz movement. Plus, this thing is large at 45.5 mm.

I thought it was obvious, but I guess not. Quartz is the superior technology in terms of timekeeping and isn't at all like a Tesla. Don't know how people can have such a crappy analogy when smart watches are right there (but those have like 20x the functionality unlike any analog watch...). Auto has a nice sweep, but more maintenance costs, this is basic stuff guys.

The ideal is a high hz quartz like the Bulova that was on sale about a week back. Is it quartz and pretty expensive, sure but it still has good value compared to the several thousand dollar watches posted on here every now and then.

The only quartz I would say are "superior technology" are grand seiko spring drives.
Folks pay for the premium because they are getting a mechanical movement that is a marvel of engineering and have a long history in culture.
Yes I agree, if I am going for an electronic watch I rather go smart watch over quartz especially at this price. For this price I can get a samsung/apple ultra titanium.
I understand quartz has less maintenance, the most you have to do is replace the battery and gasket, and in itself is a marvel of tech but due to years of it being linked to being cheap it has a bad rep and I understand. The watch cost maybe 20 dollars in materials, and Tissot is popular because of its mechanical swiss movement and people will pay for that premium. Now lets take out everything that makes it what it is and just attach a brand to a product that is a bast.ardization of it's history. If we add prada/gucci to a paper grocery bag would you pay 100$ for it? You can make the argument that paper is better than plastic all you want, yes it is true but why would someone pay that price for a paper bag? If I wanted paper bag I would get the 10 cent bag. Just like in this case if I wanted quartz I would not get Tissot.

It's a requirement on Slickdeals for someone to make a comment on any non-smart watch that smartwatches are superior in every way.
