The Moto G Power 2024 is a solid budget 5G phone, with praise for its snappy performance, decent camera, bigger battery, improved screen, RAM, and wireless charging over the 2023 model. It also has a headphone jack and FM radio, and once unlocked it can be used on other carriers with physical SIM or eSIM support. The main catch is the Tracfone service setup, since the included 1.5GB for a year is too little for heavier use and top ups cost $10 for 3GB. Unlock timing is also a point to watch, with reports pointing to about 60 days of active service.

This phone has a headphone jack but no FM radio. The 2024 Moto G Stylus has both. I had both phones but sold the Power. <br />

It's unlocked, that isn't the problem. The problem is it requires E-Sim support, which the A15 doesn't have, at least not in the US market.
UPDATE on eSim for T-Mo Satellite: I spoke to T-Mo c/s and their Sat service WORKS on both eSim and a physical sim! So the Samsung A15 5G is fine as is the A25, etc.

OK, but that requires you to have full fledged T-Mo service, not just the satellite service augmenting whatever existing service you have with some other carrier.

Also, it's not clear if it will actually work even in the case of exclusively T-Mo service, because they make it seem like the satellite service requires a 2nd sim (either E-Sim, or physical). A15 5G in US market only supports the 1 SIM.

I signed up for their free trial/beta of the Starlink service and can't use it for these reasons. I'm not ready to abandon my service to pay T-Mo. They claimed I could try it, but it's not supported without ESim support.

No, it does NOT require T-Mo cellular service. I too was on the beta program and was using an unlocked Samsung A35 5G and now they added data last month. With data one can now makes calls with Whatsapp. Other apps like All Trails Go into a store as they are way more knowledgeable than phone c/s.
From T-Mo:
Can non-T-Mobile customers get T-Satellite?

OK, so explain to me how you're gonna get a 2nd SIM into a phone that only holds 1 SIM, and has no ESim support....or are you srsly advocating swapping physical sims every time you need to use starlink?

You can't explain, so you downvote like a toddler instead.

It is quite clear you need to call T-Mobile instead of making assumptions.

Just call.

It's quite clear you lack reading comprehension. Calling T-Mobile won't magically make a 2nd sim slot or ESim support appear on a phone that doesn't have it.

Whats the process for the unlock? does it unlock automatically? Or do you have to call in to get unlock code? Does this phone have the same bands as the factory unlocked versions? I've heard some locked phones, even when unlocked don't work on another network.
You need active service for 2 months to get it unlocked.

Not entirely accurate; I've on multiple occasions activated (harvested plan), re-activated my original phone (on the harvested plan), and the phones are still unlock eligible 2 months later.

So, while yes, you have to maintain 2 months of service, in my experience it doesn't actually have to be on the original device.

That's your assumption that you need a 2nd SIM slot or ESim. LOL

You do, unless you already have TMo service.

If you say so, I haven't bothered to ask T-Mobile.
