I bought new about a year ago and probably used at least 20 times with no issues.

I have a version of this, and I used to have the ninja creami. they both require you to plan a day ahead by either freezing the bowl (KA) or freezing the batter (ninja). they both have their uses but I prefer the KitchenAid for my use case. I want ice cream, and not the healthy kind!

I don't eat a lot of ice cream in one sitting, usually just one scoop with a waffle cone which is where regular ice cream made with the KA is best for me. with the ninja creami you have to mix it with the really loud knock-off pacojet (at least twice, sometimes thrice!) and you have to eat the entire pint right then and there. otherwise you put it back in the freezer, it turns to ice again, and you have to remix it again and again if you want to eat it the next day. the texture quality decreases due to the refreeze and the diminished volume. with the KA, you churn the ice cream for 20 min and it's soft serve consistency. throw it in the freezer for a couple hours if you want solid ice cream. no fuss.

did I mention the ninja creami is so damn loud?! I live alone in a house and I still hated using it cuz it was so grating.

if you like ice cream: get the KitchenAid

if you want to turn a protein shake into a dessert that resembles ice cream: get a ninja creami

on another note, the box/label/instructions explicitly say do not use hot water or apply heat to the mixer bowl! I think mine even came with a sticker on the bowl warning me. I'd guess those that had a failure with the bowl cant read and tried to clean the frozen bowl with hot water and the thermal shock caused it to break.

my favorite chocolate recipe: https://www.davidlebovitz.com/dev...lla-parks/

One of the reviewers said "freezer bowl, paddle and driver."

I briefly wondered this too but it didn't make sense to me that the official KitchenAid ebay store would sell just the bowl. We'll see!

I would call that a defective product, not a feature on all of them. Do you really think they all leak blue fluid? They wouldn't sell any.

Amazon reviews for durability are awful with people reporting it cracks after a few uses.

Dammm... You're going to pay $37.50 for this. Wait about a month for Black Friday & Woot (Amazon) or someone else will have the Ninja 11-in-1 on sale for less than $100. With the Ninja you can do 11 different ice cream/frozen treats. This does 1 (plus Ninja give you a recipe book. This doesn't). The Ninja bowls do not take up 1/2 your freezer space (who has that much space in their freezer for this). Plus, it's a bowl that ends up taking more square footage! Finally the Ninja is highly rated over this. I'd rather wait save up at most $62.49 for Ninja 11-in-1 when it swings around on sale again. But the choice is yours. Yeah, I know that you'll get more ice cream out of this, but real estate in my freezer is precious.
my catering/bbq buddy was recently talking up the Ninja a lot, it sounds intriguing. I had also only heard of this kitchenaid attachment a few days prior too, so i had DIY ice cream on the brain. thought that I had read that some people had burned out their kitchenaids using this attachment, so i'd need to research more before pulling the trigger on this refurbished

I have this, but never made anything so far. Can someone recommend a foolproof recipe?
