With the lengthy and the fact it has anti corrosion metal parts for saltwater, could you surf fish with this? Probably. Should you? There are likely better entry level specific to surf fishing rods around $50 to consider. The reviews for at least this series aren't super great from what ive read too. Larger fish = broken rods. I dont know that id use this as a repeated surf fishing rod for anything but closer in, lighter fish like Whiting or Pompano
