I didn't have the coupon but still a really good deal at really good timing for me. Limit of 4 per color, so I got 4 of each: red khaki and lime. Will donate them to my kid's school club that are making care bags for the homeless, thanks OP!

No coupon, but 'lime' is $4.35 and the purple is $5.26, some other colors also pretty cheap.

I'm wondering if they selling these as a lost, or they really spend $1 on materials to build it?

Back to school season is over, inflation is probably hurting sales, and a lot of states nixed the tax free holidays...so I wouldn't be surprised if they are just trying to move inventory due to lower than expected sales volume. Just a guess.

I don't have a coupon. But yellow is also listed at $4.35 which is pretty inexpensive.

Your comment inspired me to pick up 6x backpacks for the same reason. Also got $6 in amazon prime credits.

We are Everest, a U.S. brand founded in California in 1982 and a direct supplier to Amazon.

We sincerely appreciate those helping Americans in need during these difficult times. Unfortunately, Amazon's abusive practices and unauthorized pricing have severely hurt U.S. brands like ours, while unfair competition from overseas companies makes survival harder than ever.
Please support American companies like Everest, your choice truly makes a difference.

I bet per unit, with them buying materials in bulk, these things cost the company less than $0.25 per back pack in material cost. No fancy leathers or padding here, just recycled plastics. Most expensive material on the bag is probably their logo patches. Labor/insurance/factory cost is where the cost is coming from, as these are light and could ship easy in bulk.
