No use for this other than gaming. Not used to turning on and off a computer any more since Mac mini.
Will use this to build a desktop PC for Browsing, Microsoft Office, some Python coding, some home video editing, but build so the performance stays relevant for the next 5+ years. My current desktop was built 10 years back, using the then top of the line components; only upgrades over the year was GPU card and added more memory and changed the SSD. I can feel it is getting slower now because existing applications demand more powerful components.

You do know who makes (has been making) the processor chip for Macs for about 20+ years , yes ??? ...... Its Intel ! (or more recently , whats left of Intel since the chips are no long produced purely by them and are now outsourced due to current technical and finical problems .

According to myself Smilie, I have both.
I still have my e-machine, and contrary to what people might say, my e-machine will blow the doors off your Mac.

Starting with certain models introduced in late 2020, Apple began the transition from Intel processors to Apple silicon in Mac computers.
  • MacBook Pro introduced in 2021 or later, plus MacBook Pro (13-inch, M1, 2020)
  • MacBook Air introduced in 2022 or later, plus MacBook Air (M1, 2020)
  • iMac introduced in 2021 or later
  • Mac mini introduced in 2020 or later
  • Mac Studio introduced in 2022 or later
  • Mac Pro introduced in 2023
On Mac computers with Apple silicon, About This Mac shows an item labeled Chip, followed by the name of the chip.
On Mac computers with an Intel processor, About This Mac shows an item labeled Processor, followed by the name of an Intel processor. A Mac with an Intel processor is also known as an Intel-based Mac.

I have this cpu in my main pc. Great for high cpu consumption tasks like 4k video editing. Even for games it's still good despite not having the 3d cache like the 9950x3d. I can play ms2024 in 12k2k resolution powering a 7900xtx in high resolution with frame gen and cpu utilization is not over 30 percent as the load is all on the gpu at such high resolution.

Can you recommend Photo/Video editing software for a consumer? I was looking at getting Topaz AI until they stopped the $199 lifetime.

Sorry, unfortunately, I am no expert on editing software. I have been using Nero for many years, its enough for my requirements.
