I really really hate Onkyo, but at this price I probably would have bit and hoped my luck was better than it has been the other two times I have bought their receivers. Nice find OP.

Yeah mine absolutely toasted itself. Never again. But then again, I think they're all owned by the same company practically these days.

You could tell how lower tier a receiver is just by how the speaker terminals are in the back.

This was definitely worth the price they charged

I have a Yamaha for the last 15 or so years. It's still going good. I had thought of replacing it with the nice deals that were available at Costco a couple of years back. But never got to it... I'm glad I didn't with so many reporting that their receiver broke in a few years

Mine came in. Also got the excellent quality one. It seemed new. All accessories still factory sealed. Looks like it was never plugged in and no fingerprints. Got calibration setup and started a movie. It bricked itself 3 minutes later. I see they keep popping back up so I snagged another one for one last try.

Yikes—three minutes of life? That's shockingly short. It's like buying a soda and having it evaporate before the first sip. I'm grateful to Best Buy for teaching me some valuable life lessons about Onkyo AV receivers. After over 15 years of flawless performance with Denon and Marantz gear—both incredibly reliable and still performing at their best—I've learned to stay away from Onkyo. BB offered me to repair it under warranty - but if you opt for it, it becomes your non returnable junk.

To be fair, my last Denon lasted 4 months or so.
2nd Onkyo came in. Also "excellent" condition. It had been setup at some point but otherwise looked pretty good. I had to factory reset it. So far working fine other than I cannot get the USB port to recognize any USB drive to update the firmware. Not a big deal for a ~$100 receiver.
