great deal but i can't think of a single use case where a tracker is worth $3 but not $30 to guarantee that it's the best available version. either i'm tracking something important (like luggage or a child on a field trip) or something annoying to lose (keys, remote); in either case it would be infuriating if my tracker was mediocre

lol.

Have you ever taken apart an airtag?

Airtags are just are low energy (LE) Bluetooth devices - they're cheap and easy to produce. They aren't quality products. They're just more popular since the 2021 release of airtags coincided with the much more energy efficient bluetooth 5.0 release versions

Apple airtag just had wider adoption with a proprietary tracking network which remained closed for about 3 years until the agreements with android for a standardized system in 2024.

These devices are actually more energy efficient than apple airtags as they use more updated bluetooth radios (probably BT 5.2-5.4)

The cheapest one I've bought was $3 off a chinese website .I disabled the speaker (like I did my airtags) and it works the exact same.

These devices does not have UWB thus you will not be able to use FindMy with the arrows to pinpoint them
