As cool as this might be, I cant find many places the curtains would be a good fit. The low resolution means its only good at a distance.
The Pro are better but so expensive and still not "great"

So honestly I am just going to build my own using LED matrix then I dont have to worry about hanging strands and I can just make a sold sheet material and use it as a billboard or an inside wall and the resoution makes it look good even upclose inside.

Can find less dense LED matrix than this, but I'll start with like a 3'x3' indoor decoration with these and then maybe decide to build an outdoor holiday display with something different later.

I had the first set. They just broke but I had them in front of my garage door. Worked, but was a pain at times when I needed to go in and out. Like a beaded curtain

Yeah that's why I won't do it, best place for them is also the worst place.Seen a lot of "they broke" posts on the Govee Facebook groups.

That is the same path I plan on going, too.I grabbed a few matrices from Aliexpress awhile back. The best part is WLED easily supports matrices.

Yep did the math, a ESP32 with 4 data pins will run what I want, and if I see issue I'll add one more controller and sync them. Also while I think I'll do a movable billboard that I can take in and out for holidays.I might be able to fabricate something that attaches to the garage door so it can roll up with the door and not be in the way, and the garage door will act as a natural heatsink too.

Folks have taken these and mounted them to a pegboard or similar, to create matrix. Looks pretty cool.

They just added software-based splicing to these a few days ago, so now you can buy the small ones and use them separately or as one big display.

Been permanently hanging on my garage doors for the last 2 years and still going strong. Have 3 of them in series and neighborhood loves them. I basically super glued neodymium magnets to the back of the plastic casings and they hang right on the garage door itself so that it raises and lowers with the garage and doesn't impede entry/exit.

Where is the info on software splicing?
That is the only thing holding me back from purchasing a few of these. The 3x pack is not on sale..

Tedious yes, but only a one time task and I can throw them up or pull them off with ease when needed now. Just took maybe an hour off my life at the start and then good to go.

I did this too before last Christmas. Also hot glued the bottom of the strands to a section of plastic J-channel from Lowes (turned upside down so it doesn't collect water). This keeps the strands from getting twisted and blowing around so much in the wind.

I had one set brick on me. Absolutely dead. Messaged Govee a few weeks ago for troubleshooting. After confirming it was indeed dead and sending them a video, they sent me a new set for free. Just got it reinstalled last weekend.

I always wanted something smaller like this for my back car window I could quickly program to tell people behind me (or ones I just passed) what I think of them...
