Community Reviews
This IdeaPad Slim 3 looks like a strong budget productivity laptop, with a Ryzen 5 8540U, 300 nit touch IPS screen, USB C charging, and a 60Wh battery that stands out at this price. The memory is upgradeable, with an 8GB soldered module plus one DDR5 SO DIMM slot that can reach 24GB total, and the SSD can be expanded with some effort. The main tradeoffs are the cut down port selection, no USB4, HDMI 1.4, and uncertainty around external monitor refresh rates. It feels like a capable everyday machine if you can live with the leaner I O and modest base storage.

- Opening the laptop.
- Clone (would need to get adapter/enclosure for new NVMe) the 256GB NVMe to a larger one
Can it be done? Yes.Is it for you? No. Sort of defeating the purpose of getting this laptop (better to use as is)

Solidly mid-tier at a bottom-tier price with a few compromises on important things that can be upgraded (memory/capacity) and a few less important features to most users that can't (plastic, no USB 4, no tablet mode).

Processor is outstanding for laptop productivity uses and mediocre for gaming, touchscreen display is reasonably mid-tier (IPS / 300nits / multi-point), memory & HD are budget sized (rare to see a mid-tier below 16GB/512GB, but this is upgradeable), and peripherals/features are low end (no flip screen, no USB 4, plastic case, proprietary charging port but also charges via USB-C, single USB-C port).

Opening up most laptops takes removing 6-10 Phillips head screws, then splitting the bottom cover from top. 5 minutes. At that point, typically the old NVME drive is sitting there staring at you, it's plugged into motherboard. Remove one screw, pull drive/circuit board out, insert new drive in same place, replace single screw. Put rear cover back. Turn laptop over and start it up. Everything looks good? Shut it down and click rear cover into place then replace screws. Done, except for selling old drive to someone on eBay.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is this a good price? or is there other alternatives to it with better price? I can wait for Thanksgiving sale too but not sure if I will find a better deal than this. Appreciate any insights. Thanks.
