I've used one of these to put in more fence posts than I can count. They do the job, but renting a power auger is the way to go nowadays in sand and soil with minimal rocks if you're fencing any distance. These things have their uses still these days. 15 bux is a good deal if you can find it, and if you think you'd ever need/want it.

just be extremely careful with those, particularly if there are any roots nearby. i hit a root and literally almost completely snapped my wrist if i had just held on for 0.1 seconds longer. you either need to let go immediately or hold it tight enough that the unit won't spin when the bit stops spinning. i think the 2 person augers are a lot safer.

Crazy how overly priced these are normally. Great for post holes and planting trees.

That's one of the reasons why I use 1/2" pipe and water.

Yep, that's a fact. Same thing with big rocks. The rocks (and roots) stay, and so does the auger but the motor keeps going. Even if you let go of the handles it hurts like crazy when they hit your shins when digging deep. How do I know....

The only thing that gets hurt with the clamshells in this deal are the blisters and muscles and the back.....

Leaf rakes, drain spades and transfer shovels were also on clearance in my store. May be on a separate post, but once you're there you will see a lot of the Dewalt marked tools are on clearance for sub $10 prices. Can look up inventory on the website, but no pickup option available. In store only.
