Not bad for the newest tools and two tabless power pack 4.0 slims (these are the same size as the old 4.0 slims but use round tabless cells that have more power (amperage peak output). One hopes this combo will get closer to 200 near the holidays but it's tough to tell these days.

Would have been a no brainer if the driver were the 860. In any case, here is to hoping the price goes down soon.

I know, right? It sort of seems like they're trying to clear out the 845s. They did the same thing with the DCD999 when they packaged that with the DCF887 when the DCF850 was already out. The red competition has not compromised on their top-of-the-line combo kit when it comes to the tools (although they drop the ball on the batteries in the kit).

Didn't notice that, even if it was the DCF850 it would be better, imho, the 845's performance to size ratio wasn't good compared to the 850.

I feel like the 845 was some weird stop gap/parts use up on their part, it wasn't particularly better than the 850 and the 860 came out not long after and both of them are significantly shorter. Thankfully 887s still sold well when the 999 combo was out so I could get the 999 and just sold the 887, I think I've had like 4 come and go before I sold the last one when I got the 860 lol.

Still tempted to get this since I am missing the 845 in my collection. Of course, the powerpacks are the main draw. Might cave if it stays this price for longer.

PowerPACK = tabless battery technology, they still use round cells (probably 21700s in these?) but are more powerful as there's more conductive area for the terminal without sacrificing capacity, its an internal packaging change to the sheets wrapped into a tube. Most new high end power tool batteries are going to this technology.
PowerSTACK = pouch cell technology, cooler, higher output, longer lasting, more expensive.

Yes, same for me. I had an 887, replaced it with an 850, then got another 887 packaged with the 999 and sold it.

Yes, the DCB2104 POWERPACK uses 21700 cells. They are a single row (5 cells) and so still are still behind some of the larger non-tabless batteries in terms of total output, but they have the highest output for their size. For reference, here are the maximum outputs of some of the more common 20V MAX packs:

Compact
DCBP034 (1.7Ah, pouches): 30A [POWERSTACK]
DCB203 (2Ah, one row 18650): 22A
DCBP320 (3.5Ah, pouches): 45A [POWERSTACK]
DCB240 (4Ah, one row 21700): 30A
DCB2104 (4Ah, one row 21700 tabless): 60A [POWERPACK]

Standard
DCB204 (4Ah, two rows 18650): 44A
DCB205 (5Ah, two rows 18650): 40A
DCBP520 (5Ah, pouches): 60A [POWERSTACK]
DCB206 (6Ah, two rows 21700): 70A
DCB2104 (8Ah, two rows 21700 tabless): 120A [POWERPACK]

Bigger
DCB606 (6Ah, three rows 18650): 90A [FLEXVOLT]
DCB609 (9Ah, three rows 21700): 105A [FLEXVOLT]

Ridiculous
DCB615 (15Ah, six rows 18650): 150A [FLEXVOLT]
