You can get aftermarket compatible batteries that are 6.5 for dirt cheap. I use these. 2/$47.99. I have 3 of the drill/driver combo's, that's six tools plus the circular saw and the chainsaw and use the aftermarket batteries in most of them.

I have these. They are slimmer/smaller than the older models, but there are other differences as well such as no magnetic base to carry loose screws. Minor, but I use it all the time and it's kind of an inconvenience
For the average or beginner DIY person, it's a good drill.

Got these a week ago in store display rack with handwritten sign "SCREAMING DEALS!" And it was an additional 50% so only $50 plus tax

Does this typically mean they're releasing a newer model? Or just getting rid of old stock?

You realize they're for the drills, right? Who the hell wants a 4ah or larger just for their drill?
The 1.5 or 2ah batts are perfect for these.

Thanks OP. Grabbed the last one at a local place with stock as part of a baby shower gift. Someone's gotta build the crib and prep the nursery!
They're also getting a baby carrier.

The specs on gen 1 & 2 are the same according to the discriptions on both pages. Almost the same pics used for each item also
