Just an FYI, this camera does not have continuous recording, only event based, even when hardwired and connected to a homebase. It is the same camera as the S340, just Costco model number. Make sure you review this camera's shortcomings so that you're not frustrated after your purchase.

I have one of these, and I would not buy any Eufy product again.
1. I have since heard that Reolink is better.
2. The customer support team SEEMS VERY helpful, but in the end does nothing for you.
3. Pulling up the list of motion detection events is a pain in the A55 -- slow and sometimes doesn't work
4. Trying to play a video event doesn't work about 10 to 20% of the time. And often the playback is choppy/stutters.
5. It is implied that the last two issues, might be resolved by buying their ~$300 storage / hub.
6. Infrared mode can NOT be used, unless you like getting ~4 recorded motion events per minute of tiny, IR illuminated particles of dust flying by.

PS, iirc, after 5 straight days of very cloudy rainy weather, It dropped to 64% battery. Would probably have been much lower, but I switched from optimal surveillance mode, into optimal battery life mode ~2 days in. And then it only took a day or two to charge back up to 100%

PPS, My street has lights, and along with the low light capable camera, takes pretty decent video without needing to turn on the spot light.

I've had two of these running for a year. Never have run out of battery power. Seems they store plenty to keep going through multiple cloudy days (and dark nights)!

Sorry to hear you've had issues. I've not experienced any problems whatsoever with playback or pulling up motion events within seconds. Have not needed customer support, so can't comment on that. I've been 100% pleased with these!

These are $99 at my store. They work great for wireless cameras. I have 2 right now and bought another.

In general, most battery powered cameras including the ones that use solar panels (like this one) to recharge internal batteries do not support continuous recording.

Unless hard wired to power, you are not going to get continuous recording. That is the shortfall. The batteries would never keep up.

Looks like your question has been answered, I was just surprised that since it did allow a USB C power connection and the solar panel is detachable (and optional) that it didn't continuously record. I bought a bunch of Eufy products at the same time, the S340 camera, the Homebase 3, the Costco deal on the E340 doorbell and Indoor 2K Cam Mini combo and shame on me for making assumptions. To someone else's point below, my S340 goes off all night with the IR camera, going to try color I guess. A few notes on the other items - I had a previous hardwired Eufy doorbell and it continuously recorded, so again I assumed that since the E340 could be hardwired, it would record continuously, nope. And since the doorbell and the mini cam came as a combo deal and the E340 doorbell connects to the homebase, I again assumed anything brand new Eufy would release would connect to it...nope! It has to have its own microsd card but it does continuously record, can't relay on how it works though since I tossed it in a drawer since it won't connect to homebase. All of this to say, do your homework, read the specs because Eufy is not at all consistent with features, at least now how assumed they would be.

Summary:

Cameras offline. This is happened so often for no reason. I could not find out why.
Missing recording in 24/7 mode. I can see the cam recorded it because the timeline is blue where is no motions and yellow for the motions. But when I click on a certain time it skips a couple minutes. This happened randomly through the day.
Camera did not load up and gave me an error message or the loading time was very slow. It was quicker to open up the door to check who is it rather waiting for the camera.
Indoor pan and tilt cams randomly turned to a different position.
Image quality was questionable. Many time it was blurry, washed out, flat.
AI is just bad. The human, pet or vehicle detection often confused.
And top it all up, the customer service is just terrible, useless bunch of.....
