Jasmine Bashara never signed up to be a hero. She just wanted to get rich.
Not crazy, eccentric-billionaire rich, like many of the visitors to her hometown of Artemis, humanity's first and only lunar colony. Just rich enough to move out of her coffin-sized apartment and eat something better than flavored algae. Rich enough to pay off a debt she's owed for a long time.
So when a chance at a huge score finally comes her way, Jazz can't say no. But engineering the perfect crime is just the start of her problems—because her little heist is about to land her in the middle of a conspiracy for control of Artemis herself.
Trapped between competing forces, pursued by a killer and the law alike, she'll have to hatch a truly spectacular scheme to have a chance at staying alive and saving her city.

I've read both Project Hail Mary and Artemis (in that order, I never read The Martian), I prefer PHM but both are entertaining for what they are.
After Artemis I think I understand the author's style of writing and humor, I know it's only of n=2 but there was so much similarity, and while it isn't why I enjoyed either novel it was fine.
For me PHM was more "fun" because there was a lot "exploration" and using science to solve things, and no real bad guy. Artemis did at times involves science to solve but there was also just solving problems by being sneaky or tricky, like any bad guy vs good guy story. PHM was also fun on a reread but I felt like after one read of Artemis I got all that I would get.
If you love Weir's two other novels. You'll probably ... like it? But it IMHO is easily the weakest of the three. If you were meh on either of those two, pass. Weir's strongsuit is not character development, and here he fails, again IMO, to portray a credible female lead.
But at $2, I gave it a thumbs up

Artemis is...not good. Unless you LOVE Martian and Hail Mary and would take anything in that style (sort of), I'd avoid Artemis
I agree. It was such a badly written book.Weir's attempt to write a female character is embarrassing. It's as if an entire Reddit incel forum pooled their ideas and thought that's what a woman should be like as a protagonist.
Everything is very low effort, of course it has the super tidy happy ending, it's full of the most ridiculous tropes and clichés.
I couldn't even believe this book was written by the guy that wrote the Martian.
Ooooooh, thanks for posting this so I can read it. I mean, I don't need the deal, I bought it in 2018, Amazon says. But this might actually remind me to finally read it.
