Can someone confirm this worked? And also, confirm the steps, please? -

Order the phone from Walmart.
Deliver to your home.
Put the SIM card in the phone (assuming it came with the phone).
Within 3 days, go to a Walmart store or a Verizon store.
Pay off the phone $198 + taxes and other fees (not clear where to pay off the phone).
Call Verizon customer care.
Ask to cancel the line to avoid paying even for a month.
Wait for 60 days.
Phone automatically unlocks.

Pay off, cancel right away. No need for service. Then wait 60 days to unlock
It doesn't let you order it without service.

You need service. Pay off the phone at corporate store then cancel the service

No, it isn't. Walmart and Best Buy work with Samsung to adjust the full retail price on financing.

You can pay off the 36 payments and it totals $199.

They do this to deter scalpers, but still get rid of old models.
Have you read the fine print on the first picture at Walmart page?

Ahh ok I misunderstood this post. Thought you meant no need for service at all.

If you cancel the service, they still charge for first month's service at the time of activation right? You can't get a refund on that unless I'm missing something? Also I bought a phone through Verizon website through another thread and SD commend said I just needed to pay for 1 month of service and the phone will be unlocked after 60 days, we'll it's been 90 days and my phone is still locked. Verizon said I didn't pay for the second month of service to qualify for the unlock.

On the previous deal. I was able to cancel the line within the 3 days so I didn't have to pay for one month service. It has to be cancelled within 3 days. Then I waited 60 days and the phone was unlocked

Interesting, so I just sign up with a 1 month plan, within 3 days go to Walmart to pay off the phone and cancel the plan at the same time and my total will be $199 plus tax?

I can't choose pickup at walmart store, so how can I cancel the service online?

Did they refund both the first month and the activation fee?

this was probably a one off issue but I had a NIGHTMARE experience with the att on the previous deal. Phone never arrived
Phone got activated
I coudln't cancel b/c I never even had the phone
I kept getting bills for a phone/service I never had.
Took 3 months to resolve where I had to call multiple times and even go to the store (useless trip) to cancel.

You have to receive the phone first, then pay off the phone. Then cancel the service
