Order the phone from Walmart.
Deliver to your home.
Put the SIM card in the phone (assuming it came with the phone).
Within 3 days, go to a Walmart store or a Verizon store.
Pay off the phone $198 + taxes and other fees (not clear where to pay off the phone).
Call Verizon customer care.
Ask to cancel the line to avoid paying even for a month.
Wait for 60 days.
Phone automatically unlocks.

You pay at the corporate Verizon store. Not Walmart. Cash only, the system will not take credit card. I got into iPhone 13 deal with att, and recent s24u deal with Verizon. Att is easier to unlock as it doesn't require 60 days to unlock.
