Can someone confirm this worked? And also, confirm the steps, please? -

Order the phone from Walmart.
Deliver to your home.
Put the SIM card in the phone (assuming it came with the phone).
Within 3 days, go to a Walmart store or a Verizon store.
Pay off the phone $198 + taxes and other fees (not clear where to pay off the phone).
Call Verizon customer care.
Ask to cancel the line to avoid paying even for a month.
Wait for 60 days.
Phone automatically unlocks.

So I order now, and recieve the phone by Thursday, I go on Friday to a Walmart Supercentre, and pay it off there and then call Verizon to cancel the service?

Did they refund both the first month and the activation fee?
Csr tried to, but I told her that I didn't use the service. Try to charge prorated rate but called again and got a new rep. She was able to waive it off

maybe the old postpaid unlock policy changed. the current one states need activate service for 60 days before unlocking. I'm assuming you have to pay for activation also. So $199 +$70 (2 months service) + $45 activation+taxes= ~$400

To avoid upgrade/activation fee, if you have existing multiline account , then once you receive the device , activate the phone on any other line and make the call or send a text. Thats it. Then you can continue paying your bill. I did this with Iphone 15 pro , i activated it on other line to start 60 days clock and then later , i activate the phone back on original line , through which I ordered. No upgrade fee in my next bill showing .

Is there any reason to do in-store pickup? Would having it delivered work?

It looks like you need 60 days of paid active service for prepaid, it doesn't say that it's required for postpay.
