"continuously monitor"...LOL.

If such pretend problems really concern you, just disconnect or set the game to offline mode. You only need to activate once and never again. Use a throwaway email to really confuse them

FWIW, your ISP, Google, Microsoft, and (dozens of companies you've never even heard of) are continuously monitoring far more than whatever you pretend EA fetches for the 1/4 second it phones home when you boot up the game.

P.S....you don't mind the Steam DRM continuously monitoring you, but EA DRM...within Steam DRM ...is the line in the sand we do not cross?

So much great story for $5, mass effect 2 is one of the best games ever made in my opinion. 1 is an excellent store with somewhat dated mechanics.

Requires you to allow EA to continuously monitor your computer while playing. So, no.

So since one does it we should just let them all do it? Many of us don't want to be connected to anything, nor do we have social media. It's kind of a sad state of affairs that we have ANYTHING, that requires full internet access 24/7, especially for entertainment purposes. I love games and movies and all that, but these companies trade personal info and all your private info for an illusion of joy. FOMO is a hell of a drug.

I almost bought it - forgot this was EA which I boycott - thanks for the reminder!

"Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: EA on-line activation and Origin client software installation and background use required.
Requires 3rd-Party Account: EA Account
Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA
Mass Effectâ„¢ Legendary Edition EULA
EA Play subscription requires acceptance of
EA Play Terms"

Again...you are okay with Steam but not EA? It is functionally the same thing with a different name on the building. And hate to break it to you but SlickDeals (comment section especially) is a form of social media you are "connected to" and they are "continuously monitoring" everything you do here, as well as planting cookies on your browser so they can "continuously monitor" everything you do on other pages.

FWIW, the only way you aren't going to be cut off from all of that is if you only use disposable emails to buy DRM free games from the likes of GOG. Of course using disposable emails to create accounts for GOG, and your PC, and your OS, and the burner phone you used to access all of that. Wait until you find out about GPS or cell tower triangulation....

It is amazing how you can be so gung-ho about something like online privacy when you are posting from a 11 year old account. If your account was created yesterday, you might be living the anonymous hacker lifestyle but clearly you ain't.

P.S. Are you really suggesting I have FOMO because I might buy a nearly 20 year old game? LOL...rushed into the store for that one, didn't I?

Again, create a junk email address with a fake name if you are really so scared of Electronic Arts...but not oddly not Valve...or SD...or Microsoft...or Google...or or or or. But EA has to be stopped.

Might as well complain a lake is wet then jump into the ocean

You signed that much away when you registered for a "free" SlickDeals account.

And how do you think you were going to activate the game without:

Incorporating Steam DRM: Valve on-line activation and Steam client software installation and background use required.
Requires 3rd-Party Account: Steam
Requires agreement to a 3rd-party EULA Steam (and a bunch of others)
Steam EULA
EA Play subscription requires acceptance of EA Play Terms" - LOL, you signing up for "subscriptions" now?

Another person who is upset that a lake is wet so they go swim in the ocean because it isn't...

Never said I was ok with steam harvesting or anyone else. Never said I live the "hacker lifestyle"
Sure, I have an 11 year old account on slickdeals, but I also used to have accounts at most every other service. I'm sure if you looked i probably made silly remarks in the past, too, but I like to think that I've been paying attention and improving as I learn. Know better, do better. Or bury your head in the sand and make fun of people who give a shit about their lives. You do you.
