My wife got this for free for making a purchase at a store a few months ago. After about 5 washes in the dishwasher, it started peeling. She said that compared to a similar brand, it does not keep her drinks as cold. Unsure if this is typical with other Stanley tumblers or if this is a bad model

DISHWASHER SAFE: Spend less time hunched over the sink and more time doing the things you love. Cleaning your tumbler and lid couldn't be easier, just pop them into the dishwasher. Unlike plastic bottles that retain stains & smells, this metallic beauty comes out pristine

What started peeling? Isn't it stainless steel? I have a different Stanley and I've had no problems with peeling or it not keeping things cold

They'll gladly tell you that you can put it in the dishwasher because they known it'll ruin it eventually and rather than dealing with any sort of warranty process, for 30 bucks you'll just buy another one.Every single thread about a vacuum insulated bottle there is a comment about dishwashers messing up the bottle, a sensible comment about how you aren't supposed to put these in a dishwasher, and then another reply about how the manufacturer PROMISES you can put them in the dishwasher. It's exceedingly tiring seeing the same dumb shit over and over again. The way these bottles are made is fundamentally incompatible with using a dishwasher to clean them. No brand has some magic manufacturing process that makes their bottles able to withstand this issue. And anyone dishwashing any of these sorts of vacuum insulated bottles is literally just rolling the dice every time on whether or not it'll finally die.Any/all of these bottles will last a decade if you actually take care of the damn thing, and any/all of these bottles will stop insulating and eventually fall apart if you don't, it's really that simple. You save yourself 60 seconds by tossing it in the washer instead of just squirting some Dawn in and quickly scrubbing it with a long handled brush, but you end up buying a new bottle in a year.
