This Moto G Stylus 5G 2025 deal stands out for a feature packed budget phone, with OLED display, IP68 water resistance, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, microSD expansion, headphone jack, wireless charging, and a 5000mAh battery. The phone is also praised for snappy performance, good face unlock, and solid value once it unlocks. The main catch is the service requirement, since unlocking depends on 60 days of paid service and the plan math can change with autopay, taxes, and plan downgrades. A few reports also flag battery drain, bloatware, and occasional activation or shipping hiccups, making it a strong value if the carrier terms fit your plan.

Common Questions (6)

  • It unlocks after 60 days of paid service, and the second month is required to satisfy that requirement. The service does not need to be continuous, but the phone must remain tied to paid service long enough for the unlock clock to complete.

  • Yes, the plan can be downgraded after the first month, and the Bronze plan is commonly used for the second month. The new plan should be added in reserve or at the next cycle so you do not lose remaining paid days or interrupt the 60-day unlock window.

  • The phone can zero out in cart when the required plan is selected, but taxes, fees, and shipping still apply. The required plan has shifted in the thread from Gold to Silver in some listings, so the exact minimum plan should be checked on the current offer page before ordering.

  • Yes, the promo wording allows a new line of service or a port-in, and new-number activation has worked. Porting is optional for Straight Talk, though the phone still needs to be activated on the required plan.

  • It has some carrier bloat, and more can download after Wi‑Fi setup. Disabling Mobile Services Manager right after setup is the key step because it is the app that pushes much of the extra software.

  • Yes, it has been reported working on Mint/T-Mobile after unlock, including dial-in voicemail. The phone also supports T-Mobile-friendly bands such as n71, so it should be a reasonable fit for T-Mobile-based service once unlocked.

Error message when trying to get the phone...has this been the issue for anyone lately?
Same here, tried a couple of times over the past hour. Trying to avoid doing in store if possible.

I was having the issue on my PC. Once I tried it on my phone, no issues at all, got the order placed.

There has been some discussion in the thread about whether switching from Silver to Bronze for the second month will end the Silver month early and start the Bronze month immediately. The consequence of that would be having to pay for a third month in order to get active service for 60 days.

When I initiated the change process I got the following message which indicates the Bronze month wouldn't start until the next scheduled plan month. Has anyone actually experienced something different (eg the Bronze month starting early)?

Don't lose your plan benefits!
Your new plan starting on December 15, 2025 will not have these benefits:
5G network connectivity
Unlimited high-speed data
10 GB hotspot data
Do you still want to change your plan?

You can let your plan lapse and then add the Bronze plan later (a few days, week, weeks) if you're worried. Continuous service is not required to unlock.

Experience data point to share:
I switched over to Bronze + Auto-pay for my second month. I had 12 days left on my first month, but it went ahead and made the payment for the next month ($34 + taxes). That was earlier than expected but fine.
I have now turned off Auto-pay, but you can't delete your credit card on file.
Will keep a close eye on things when the second month expires.

Reps to anyone who has done this on other deals. Can you rebrand this phone to first activate tracfone and buy the $20 plan for 3 months and it will be unlocked after month 2?? Can the straight talk plan then be used the 4th month on this unlocked phone?

can you rebrand this phone and activate with $20 3 month tracfone plane to unlock this phone, and then use the plan bought on this phone when it is unlocked later or on another phone?

Activate it on Tracfone right away with that $19.99 90-day plan. From my experience, you need full 60 days on Tracfone to unlock.

What did you end up doing? Did you get a $10 discount offer, check your cart? It seems to be a ymmv but I've gotten it twice now - once in the spring and again last week. :-)

Hey all, I need a phone and new line for my kid. Rest of the family is on GoogleFi... can I get this phone for 60 days, have ST unlock and move to GFi starting in the 3rd month?

GFi's best deal is $49 or $99 phone with a new line, and the line is $10/m additional. So trying to see if its worth messing with the ST deal. thx!

I'm new for all of this, thank you!

I just went to Walmart.com and reloaded my account with the $35 bronze card hopefully the phone will just automatically unlock at 60 days and I can be done with Smart Talk for good
