Google Fi's 50 percent off promo is mainly attractive for low monthly pricing on multiple lines, especially when paired with strong T Mobile based service and easy eSIM activation through the Fi app. The plan can work well on iPhone and Android, and some setups report smooth porting and solid speeds. The main catches are that Unlimited Essentials has no hotspot tethering in the support docs, data slows hard after the allotment, and promo eligibility can be finicky with invite timing, line transfers, and new customer rules. Taxes, fees, and international data costs can also change the value quickly.

Re-read the first sentence of the 2nd paragraph. He lied by omission. Was on the phone with him during entire order of two lines, within the hour before promo deadline.<br />
He told me all that I had to do to get the promo on both lines was activate both lines before 30 days. He omitted the 'accept invitation within that hour' part. Makes no sense to have to "accept an invitation" when I am the one ordering TWO lines and order was completed.
yeah he didnt lie, that is your responsibility. you can still get the promo if you had accepted the invite in time. its part of the terms and conditions. learn to take some responsibility..
i did my promo a day or two before. the end date and all 4 lines got the promo

The telephone number has to be off google-fi for 6 months for it to be detected as new. You could create new google accounts and get new phone numbers and they would be considered new customers on the other plan.
A simple workaround is to just sign up with a new temporary number on a new email to meet eligibility for the promo. Then port your Google Fi number out to another carrier (Google Fi won't let you port in a number currently on Google Fi). Then port your number back into Google Fi on the new account to replace the temporary number.

Just sucks that you can't tether, but still a lot better than my current $15 boost plan.
Essentials now includes hotspot tethering. Been that way for about a month. Not sure why it's not disclosed.

Dang, I just switched to Visible. Oh well it's only $1.50 difference. Thanks for filling me in though, it's good info to share.

Yes. Just make sure they accept the invites before the promo period ends.
If they accept the invite, how many days do they have time to evaluate to sign up for service?

Double check that the "spectrum" phones are correctly configured for google fi. i recommend doing a factory reset so it can configure itself specifically for the network. I had this issue as well taking an s25 that was for spectrum. was really garbage on the network/calls and service till i did a factory reset.
Is spectrum Mobile good? I had good speed with visible and now on Tello. I've a free year of Spectrum Mobile is what I see

spectrum sometimes have crazy deals and trade ins. and you can pay off the devices right away and get them unlocked but most of the android phones are "branded" so there is that. iPhones aren't ever branded so there is that. Keep a look out on their "shop" page.

Branded means, it comes spectrum boot logo or software?

Is it normal when you go through the checkout pages, and there's a TOS pop up, where you click the box that says you understand the subscription will renew at $90... Is this normal that it doesn't say $45? Thanks.

Mint and Metro are better imo. With Google fi once you hit your data allotment you're slowed to dial up Internet speeds and it's unusable. On Metro or Mint it's just deprioritized which never matters in my area. Visible or TW are the best deals right now imo for the unlimited hotspot. TW gives free Disney + too on the $30 byod plan.
Uhh..I have Mint and it definitely throttles down when data allotment is exceeded. It even says so in their plan description.

Also, most (if not all) MVNOs are deprioritized in favor of direct subscribers of a network (ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc) from my understanding. Unless you're in some kind of premium plan, expect to be deprioritized in crowded areas.

If you want to port your phone number out of Mint you will find out why you pay so little every month. That was easily one of the worst customer service experiences of my whole life. It's similar to trying to cancel SiriusXM but they keep you on hold 1 hour waiting for someone to help you. They have you locked because you must talk to them to get your account number and PIN. Very nasty strategy for retention. Will never use or recommend Mint again
