Not true. You can stand on these and do squats. Bicep curls, wrap the band around the leg of a bed and then do seated rows. While twenty pounds may be a lot for some exercises, there's plenty of utility to be had if you know what you are doing or ask for help

I sorted the reviews by Recent reviews/verified purchase only and 5 out of the first 10 are not good reviews. Most are saying that the resistance is far less than that stated. Also, it seems the band breaks near the end of the band (maybe where the hook gets attached) and also the handle is not convenient for workout.

Its free returns. So you can always order and return (except for the extra trip for the return and remembering it).

The lowest "weight" is 20lbs which is probably too much for someone who is not into bodybuilding.

These are probably more for assistance in body weight exercises like pull-ups

Yeah, most people will do biceps curl with 20lbs. C'mon.
20lbs is the lowest.

I know this is no-name Aliexpress type item but the price seems good for a comprehensive looking set. Is this a good set for a newbie looking to get back in shape?

These are good to finish a lift. Like when you're completely burnt, you can run like 10 reps of these and your pump is farking crazy.

For $10, I'm pretty sure the weights are off by 10+ pounds during normal use. It's a trick these companies use to make you think you're lifting a lot of weight.

I don't think I need these, I already look like the guy in the photo, minus some muscle, plus some fat, minus some hair, and plus some years and a shirt.

If these are like other bands I've seen the resistance numbers are extremely misleading - a weakness of bands versus weights is that the resistance is not consistent.

Even assuming they didn't totally make up the weights, what "20 lbs" means is that you will be able to get 20 lbs of resistance out of them, but only when the bands are maximally stretched - a position that you may not hit at all on many exercises.

The 20lbs is not really 20. I use 60+40 on chest press not same as 100 closer to half that in real wt
