It's like a Motel 6 that's had the bathroom door ripped off its hinges, but smaller, and with awful dining options. It's the luxury experience where the only indication of luxury is the pricetag. Who wouldn't want to go two-for-one on that?

Shame I no longer take public transporations because too many people in America are unhinged, rude, and impatient

How does that happen while everyone is so focused/distracted on social issues lol

It's a train, and it's always been fine in my experience. In the winter it's a great way to go west from Denver without the risk of I70 becoming a parking lot.

You're on a train. Talk about a stick in the mud.

The roomettes are tight. When you are sitting together you'll probably bump legs. I've done the roomettes and the upgraded bedroom. (Im not sure what they actually call them) The bedroom has more space and a private toilet shower. These rooms are outdated but I still enjoyed the experience. I've done Chicago to Portland and Chicago to ND. It's a beautiful trip. There are a lot of really beautiful routes to pick from. I found the food to be pretty good, not excellent but way better than you would imagine. The thing I despised is that when you schedule your time to eat and go down they will make you sit at a table with other people. You can't have your own table in peace and quiet. I found it uncomfortable. If you go early they get grumpy. If you have mobility issues or bad joints a roomette might not be for you. Overall it still is a great experience but if you do a long trip you'll be glad when you get to your destination. I know this review sounds horrible but I enjoyed the experience. It's not about comfort but more just sitting and relaxing and seeing beautiful nature passing by. The beds are bunk beds that are smaller than a twin(at least that's what it feels like). If you want to sleep with your significant other it might not be that fun lol. As for the but one get one they don't charge for the room but they charge per occupant,(they won't put you with a stranger if you go by yourself)

I've never booked a roomette before. If I just book one normally without partaking in this BOGO deal, does that mean that I could potentially wind up sharing my roomette with a stranger?

I guess another way to put it is that the roomette is way better than sitting out where all the poor people are lol

If you're in a roommette, you do get the choice to just have your meal brought to your room.

This is great for people that are afraid to fly. Flying seems cheaper than taking a train. I don't understand how this is a viable business model.
