At $10 or less per tape, I'll take a shot on both this and the Milwaukee deal. My go to was always FatMax but the quality has taken a steep nose dive.

This is probably correct, but not in the way you think. Look at garagejournal, lumberjocks, sawmillcreek, construction/contractor forums, etc., and you'll find a lot of pros and other serious users (even people who otherwise love Milwaukee tools) love that tape measure and categorically hate Milwaukee tapes, and not many with the opposite opinion. If the fastcap and milwaukee aren't remotely comparable, it's because the fastcap is better.

It may not look fancy, but its a great product. And you wont know how great until you try it out for yourself

Is the difference between woodworking and framing though. The Milwaukee is going to absolutely be better if you're framing or doing other large scale work, the stiffness and durability of the design will hold up years while this poor thing would not last weeks in a framers belt. These milwaukee tapes are meant for that.

For woodworking though, yeah something like that will be more precise and easier to use in small sized work.

Same here. Lost my old fatmax and wasn't impressed with the cost of the new ones considering the knock in quality I've heard about. Saw a projectfarm video comparing different brands and came out of it impressed with the Craftsman for the price. Bought this one for $12: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BVXXLP3T The Milkwaukee brand tapes in that comparison video were less than stellar.

So if you're eyeing the price of these tapes but only need one, consider the Craftsman 25' for nearly the same price. Has clear markings for fractions too so you don't have to think too hard about it which the fatmax doesn't have.
